History

The Great Falls Children's Receiving Home was founded in 1966. Since then, our facility has served as a safe haven for children who have been temporarily removed from the home as a result of child abuse, neglect, abandonment, parental drug use, domestic violence, and parental incarceration. More than 98 percent of the children we receive are from Cascade County. More than two hundred children per year pass through our doors. The Great Falls Children's Receiving home is the only facility of its kind in Cascade County.

For nearly 50 years, we have provided temporary housing for thousands of children, but our facility provides more than just a bed. We ensure that each child's dietary needs are met and that he or she has appropriate clothing. We provide school supplies and pay school fees for fieldtrips and sports. We transport each child to school and appointments. We give our temporary residents age-appropriate toys. We work hard to ensure that the Children's Receiving Home has a safe, fun atmosphere. As part of that effort, we provide weekly recreation opportunities for our residents.
